The useful details, kept out of the way
Do I need headphones?
No. You can use the phone speaker and touch controls. Pressable earphones make quiet discreet play easier, while spoken choices let your hero move beyond the preset menu.
Does voice action execute immediately?
No. A spoken action is added to your choices first. It is pre-selected for convenience, but you still decide whether to execute it, replace it, or choose something else.
Is it for children?
Gydel is designed for all ages and includes child-friendly story worlds, including categories for younger children. We recommend adult supervision for children, and parents should choose suitable categories and settings. Some story worlds are intended for older players and may include horror, danger or mature themes.
Can I play for free?
Yes. Free lets you try AI-built text adventures immediately. Paid plans add voice, music, sound effects, broader story options and audiobook features.
Can I export an audiobook?
Played adventures are saved automatically in your Library as finished stories and, when audio is enabled, as audiobooks. Supported paid plans can export MP3 files for others to hear.
Help with installation
The Gydel app itself can guide you through installation. The short version is:
- Scan one of the QR codes on this page, tap Install app in the footer, or open Play Gydel in browser.
- The app opens and tries to start the install prompt where the browser allows it.
- If your device requires a manual install, follow the in-app prompt or use your browser menu to install the app or add it to the Home Screen.
This page deliberately sends you to the app first so you do not accidentally install the marketing page.
Does it work with the screen off?
Gydel is built for mobile audio, but screen-off behaviour depends on the device, browser and operating system. Android testing has been encouraging. iPhone behaviour is more controlled by iOS.
