Gydel for commuters

Interactive audio adventures for commutes

Gydel gives commuters something more active than another podcast and less screen-demanding than a conventional mobile game.

On a train, bus or safe walk, Gydel narrates a live adventure, waits for an action and continues from the decision. The player can use suggested choices, pressable earphone controls or a reviewed spoken action.

Why it fits a commute

Many commuter activities are either passive or screen-heavy. Podcasts and audiobooks require little attention from the hands but cannot react. Mobile games react, but usually require constant visual attention. Gydel is intended to sit between those formats.

What a session looks like

  1. Set up the adventure before moving or while seated
  2. Listen while travelling
  3. Choose from the action menu or add a spoken action
  4. Confirm the action
  5. Stop at any point and continue from the Library later

When it works best

Public transport, station waiting, airport waiting, safe walking routes and passenger travel are natural situations. Short and medium adventures can fit repeated journeys, while the Library allows a story to continue across several commutes.

Safety and practical limits

Gydel should not be used while driving, cycling or in any situation where interacting with a device or reducing awareness of surroundings would be unsafe. Audio controls and screen-off behaviour vary by phone, browser, operating system and earphones.

Starting without a subscription

Silent Free play lets a commuter test the story system without an account. The one-time Standard audio preview demonstrates the narration, music and effects before payment.

Questions people ask

Can I use Gydel on a train or bus?

Yes. Public transport is one of its intended use cases, provided normal consideration is given to volume, surroundings and other passengers.

Can the phone remain in my pocket?

During much of audio play it can on compatible devices, particularly with pressable earphone controls. Setup and some interactions still require the screen.

Can I speak an action in public?

Yes, but spoken actions are optional. Suggested choices and compatible earphone controls provide a more discreet alternative.

Can I continue the same adventure tomorrow?

Yes. Played adventures are saved in the Library so a commuter can continue across several journeys.
